Author: Superior Gold Group

Since the initiation of the recorded history, gold has possessed a strong significance for the production of coins, using in art products and jewellery. Gold belongs to the class of pure metals. It is very thick and has a shining surface. It is also quite soft and pliable. Gold has always been a prime tool for fiscal exchange. Gold ingots are acquired and stored by gold keepers as an instrument to circumvent possible inflation and other likely fiscal problems. But, the most prominent use for Gold has been in the making of jewellery. Some particular applications that require a lot of energy utilize Gold as the metal in their system.

The rates of gold have been in few thousands of INR per gram. When the idea of physical investment comes into picture, Gold is often the norm. This is because of its undeniably splendid shine and highly attractive tenor. This makes the idea of possessing gold, highly attractive. Gold can be bought in several types such as gold bars, jewels, gold coins and bullion.

A lot of ways are there to buy gold bars. The typical method is to go to a jeweler and buy gold. But, this type of purchase is not exactly an investment. However, when purchasing gold, it has to be ensured that it is pure and authentic. The color associated with pure gold is yellow with metallic appearance. Prior to the purchase of gold, it is good to ensure that you know the price of the gold ingots from a trusted source.

During the purchase of Gold bars, have a good idea as to why exactly the purchase is being made. If the reason for the purchase is pleasure or as gifts, then the type of gold that is in your mind most likely is either jewellery or gold coins that can be collected. One thing that must be kept in mind is that when gold jewellery is sold after once buying it, its value is not comparable to the original value with which it is bought. Another thing of note is that gold can be sold quite easily as coins.

Gold never is outdated in the world. Make sure that the quality of gold through karat is known before buying it. Ensure that the dealer through which you are buying gold is trustworthy.

Gold bars are the best option if the idea is to invest. Dealers are there who can sell you bars. Usually gold is bought in increments of one ounce. Be careful and alert when you are dealing with gold purchases.

Nothing has captivated as much as the allure and beauty of gold and silver. These precious metals represented true wealth when Alexander the Great conquered and united the lands, when Christopher Columbus explored the New World, and when our Founding Fathers forged the United States Constitution.

These metals embody real wealth today and will continue to do so thousands of years from now. Throughout time, people have appreciated the value and beauty of gold and silver. Real assets. Real wealth. Real money.

For more than two thousand years, individuals have owned gold and silver coins for a variety of reasons, including a storehouse of wealth… a proven method of passing savings to the next generation….a shield against tyranny… and as a beautiful memorial of past civilization and accomplishments.

Our Founding Fathers understood both the inflationary and deflationary dangers of paper money and believed a solid financial footing to be crucial to the success of our young nation. They believed in precious metals so strongly that they declared in the Constitution that only gold and silver would be lawful money. Even when paper money eventually took hold (the original issuing of Continental Currency was a disaster), our dollar was still defined as a specific amount of gold or silver. Gold coins circulated as everyday money side with paper currency until 1933; 90% silver coins were produced until 1965.

Today, after have long ago abandoned the gold standard, the effects of inflation are everywhere. Twenty dollars in the 1920′s – either in the form of a $20 gold coins or a $20 dollar bill- bought a fine man’s suit. Since then, trillions of paper dollar bills have been printed by the government and added to our nation’s money supply. That is why a $20 gold coin still buys a fine tailored men’s suit, but a $20 bill wont even pay for the alterations.

In our lifetime and those of our parents and grandparents, gold silver have have held their value while other forms of money have lost most of their purchasing power. Rare and historic coins have often outperformed even common gold and silver bullion’s during rising cycles. Although all investments fluctuate, our clients take great comfort knowing that gold and silver have always had value.

What is one of the most solid investments you can make, when the economy is going through one of it’s cyclical downturns? When there is a very real threat of recession, rising interest rates, the cost of living going up, gas prices rising month on month, everything starting to cost just that bit more as money starts to get tighter and tighter – which commodity can you generally speaking rely on, that will pull you through these troubled times?

Investing in gold has long been recognized as a solid investment, especially when there is a downturn in the economy. Gold is there forever, never losing it’s appeal, it never wilts, or fades or degenerates as paper does, it’s there forever.

Did you know that you can, in fact anyone can buy gold online and actually, it’s really not very hard to find an online source of reputable gold bar and bullion dealers who can look after you, ensuring for you a very solid investment whilst the rest of the economy struggles to maintain it’s momentum. It’s true, you today, could buy a one or several ounces of pure gold bars today – how would that make you feel?

Gold has been so highly desired for time immemorial – countless generations have sought this most highly valued exquisite metal and with the price of gold in recent months escalating, now could be a great time to invest yourself upon one of the most stable and beautiful products known to man. Consider weighing up carefully, where your money is going.

Ask yourself, if your money really is safe now in the hands of the banks or whether it is time to start investing in something which will never ever perish or fade away.

If you want to become a lot more successful at gold prospecting or gold nugget prospecting, the first thing to realize is that good research can make your job a lot easier whilst out in the field.

Widespread internet availability today makes your research a whole lot easier and there is a great deal of information out there that you can search for. Another good resource of information is the local library in the area where you plan to go gold prospecting. Another aspect not to overlook is research via old books on the subject or even the diaries of old gold miners if you can find these.

All of these avenues will eventually turn up for you, some awesome information and greatly increase your chances of finding a spot where you can find worthwhile deposits of gold that will be worth your time, locating and finding for yourself.

What else can you do?

Try finding old newspapers, old bulletins and geological books about mining, especially upon the subject matter of gold. Geological maps can also help you in your search and you should be able able to find these too, via your local state university, another option. There is an old saying which goes along the lines of, ‘To find gold, go where gold has already been found’.

So, try and find out where the placer workings were located, and try to find spots that others might have overlooked. Also contact governmental agencies in the area where you intend to prospect as all these avenues will assist you in your such to one degree or another.

Also contact any geology and prospecting clubs or associations in the area where you intend to start prospecting and don’t be afraid to ask of those members questions relevant to the subject, remember, most people like to talk about subjects which they have a passion for and sometimes depending on the circumstances, they may give you some really good pointers on good places to prospect for gold.

Remember also to always make sure that in the area where you intend to start your gold prospecting that you have in advance all the required permissions from the land owner and don’t be surprised if s/he is very annoyed with you, if you do not seek this permission first. It is polite and common courtesy to ask first. Again preparation is key. Driving long distances only to find out the land status does not permit gold prospecting can be very disheartening.

If you do your research in advance, many of these kind of problems can be overcome which will aid vastly to your overall enjoyment whilst prospecting for gold nuggets out in the field.

Gold Coins

Collecting Gold Coins can be a highly rewarding and pleasurable activity, it actually dates back to when coins were very first issued for trade. Enter the middle ages and people then started to turn it into an actual ‘hobby’ simply because of the unique artwork and historical value associated with coins.

Coin collecting today is still a hobby come business / past time that a great number of people enjoy participating in. One of the most precious and most expensive collections that anyone can ever have are those associated with gold coins, but having said that, it still represents amazingly good value and could just turn into a worthwhile investment proposition for you to add to your investment portfolio.

Of course as with anything, it is always wise to conduct all due diligence first, this goes without saying. The most expensive gold coin ever purchased was worth, wait for it – about Eight Million Dollars! This was the American 1933 Gold Eagle. This is why the collecting of gold coins deserves to earn for itself, the title, the ‘hobby’ of kings and queens.

Gold coins were one of the very oldest forms of money, or currency. This was later followed by silver coins. Gold coins were in circulation in the US from 1838 until 1933. The design was the Liberty Head bust, however this was only minted until 1907. This design was then changed to the Indian Head and Saint Gaudens motifs and was used until 1933, the start of the Great Depression. This then prompted the recall of gold coins which makes them very difficult to locate today.

Since these are no longer in circulation, the price alone for one of these commodities is actually quite high. Gold is also now used for other products such as jewelery or gold bars that people also retain for investment purposes.

South Africa minted it’s first gold coin which was called the Kruggarand in 1967. This gold coin actually has no face value but merely stands as a symbol. It is made from one ounce of gold and can be bought for investment purposes.

Since then, other countries have also minted gold bullion coins. Canada made the gold maple leaf gold coin in the year 1979 and Australia followed suit with the Gold Nugget in 1981. These two are in actual fact much more popular than the South African Kruggarand gold coin because of it’s 24 carat purity.

A lot of individuals today retain gold and gold coins as an investment because they speculate that the demand will cause it’s market value to increase. Other people hold onto gold and gold coins as a form of insurance especially in view of the present shaky market conditions and downturn in the economy. There was a point in time when the more paper money that was produced, as released by the banks, the higher the market value of gold which maintained gold and cash as equal value. After this standard came to the end of it’s day in 1971, this enabled government to produce more paper currency without increasing the price of gold itself.

For an excellent source of gold coins on the market today, actually eBay has a good range available from within it’s marketplace, although you are well advised to do your research first before simply rushing in. Of course many positive feedbacks given to an individual seller will give that individual greater credibility and respect. If you do your due diligence you too could soon be collecting gold coins either for investment or simply for the great pleasure that can be gleaned from researching their history and use.

You really need to steer clear of the old BFO and TR detectors since these now are the detectors of the past.

In recent years, massive advances have been achieved with regards to the technology of gold detectors. Ideally, you want to purchase a good VLF or a PI detector to gain good results. On the market today there are at the very least a dozen or more great gold detectors and your budget will likely have a play in which one is best for you.

Certainly in mineralized areas strongly consider the pulse induction, PI gold detectors.

Now, as regards accessories, there are many on the market that can aid you vastly as you search for your ideal and suitable gold detector. If you pick the right ones these can greatly increase your gold detectors overall performance. One must have, is a good set of high impedance headphones. If at all possible, what you want to try and do is to to match the impedance of the headphones to your actual gold detector. You will find that some work great with some gold detectors, whilst on others, the results will not be so good.

Another worthwhile accessory is an audio booster or signal enhancer which will help to increase faint target sounds, but be aware also that these can increase the background noise whilst you are out in the field conducting your gold detecting.

Nearly all gold detector manufacturers produce a variety of search coils, i.e. the round device that you move just above the surface of the ground and/or terrain. These can vary in size and also in configuration (DD, DD pro, Mono and Salt). As a general rule of thumb, the smaller circumference loops work best for tighter areas and smaller gold which is close to the surface. Larger coils have the advantage of allowing you to cover more ground, although they have less sensitivity to smaller pieces of gold, the advantage with these though is the depth to which they can detect gold nuggets lower down or deeper, this does depend though as I said on the size of the coil and the target. Recent advances have made some gold detectors very advanced pieces of equipment in their own right and there are now some very good ones on the market, the MineLab 4500 gold detector springs to mind straightaway if you have the budget for this one.

You will also need a decent digger, often called a prospecting pick, this will enhance your digging speed considerably. Consider first a lightweight pick as the less weight you need to cart around the more ground you can cover at the end of the day. A metal handle or a wooden handle makes little difference, just make sure if the latter that the handle is not going to snap on you at the worst possible time, unexpectantly as this can be rather infuriating and time consuming should it happen to you.

Acquiring a super strong magnet is also very helpful in area that have a lot of iron trash. A strong good sized magnet will save you so much time when digging in an area where there is lots of iron rubbish.

Gold Locations – Gold Trail

Gold locations occur in many areas throughout North America and around the world. If you are on your own personal gold trail quest to discover gold perhaps for the very first time, or to take up gold prospecting as a hobby, discovering where these likely gold locations are, will significantly add to your eventual gold recovery from the field.

As with anything in life, you can just go straight out there and start trying to find these gold locations with nothing more than a wishful dream and therefore it is unlikely that you will ever find your pot of gold at the bottom of the rainbow, so the first advice is to always carry out due diligence and research first.

Whilst this may not seem very exciting to some individuals who are very keen to find gold locations straightaway, much fun can be gleaned from this gold research adding to your gold learning and your overall success in locating gold on your gold trail.

Knowing where your chances are significantly increased is half the battle and this gold locations research too can save you a lot of hassle falling foul of some of the gold regulations and laws surrounding gold prospecting wherever you live in the world.

One of the most logical places to start your gold locations research is the local library or to dig around and search online. You could also join one of the many gold prospecting forums on the internet to find out the best gold locations in your area. Joining a gold prospectors club and striking up new friendships, swapping skills etc and given time you will no doubt be given a few good tips to help you find ideal gold locations which will have a positive bearing and increased likelihood on striking gold for the first time, then as your own gold skill develops, you can further refine your research to find better gold locations.

You can also buy gold maps online, which will give details of where gold is likely to be found. One or two sites specifically supply these gold maps to the wider public.

Another option is to visit directly known gold areas and to pop into the local secondhand bookshop heading for the section on local minerals. It may be that your gold luck is in if you manage to pick up an old mining book for next to nothing or gold magazine or gold journal, which highlights some excellent technical gold discussion, sparking off in your mind a great thought to locate that gold lode being talked about.

This research in the beginning will surely pay off for you handsomely in the long run and overall can only enhance your overall gold knowledge upon the subject, so although perhaps not as pleasant as direct gold prospecting itself, you will come to realize given time, just how valuable and insightful such gold research is, for this gold knowledge will give to you tips and advice which you will carry with you for many a long year to come in the future and especially in the beginning, such advice can be invaluable.

Golds-Gold wishes you the very best of luck researching gold locations upon your own gold trail and hope that this advice stands you in good stead for finding lots more very productive gold locations in the near future.

Moving back to gold tools and gold equipment, we’ll next be discussing the gold sluice.

Please read on to find out more about this awesome piece of gold kit which is fantastic for catching gold in riverbeds / streams etc.

The Gold Sluice is a great and very handy piece of gold kit, small enough to transport virtually anywhere. A gold sluice looks similar to an elongated metal tray, with a wider opening at the top to funnel the water through the gold sluice. You basicly hand trowel or shovel material from the streambed into the top of the funnel, then the action of the water flowing downstream carries this material through the sluice. Usually you’ll use a gold sluice in a few inches deep of flowing water.

Along the bottom of the gold sluice is a gold catchment mat, on top of this gold mat there are riffles all the way down the sluice, the idea being that as the material is placed at the top of the gold sluice, the water action will carry these gravels etc through the sluice towards the bottom edge. Any gold, naturally being heavier than the other material going through the gold sluice, this will become trapped by the riffles and the mat below them.

You can quite easily make your own gold sluice or they can be bought online, indeed, if you look in our gold store on this site, you will find many for sale at very good prices.

Short Gold Sluice Video demonstrating a mini gold sluice:

The gold sluice is very effective in collecting gold for use in streambeds and rivers where water flow is not a problem. There are many makes and models of the gold sluice available online, with some interesting innovations on the market all basically using the same principle for collecting gold.

If water is a problem, for example out in the middle of the desert, a similar piece of gold equipment comes into play, in a nutshell it’s very similar to the gold sluice working on the same principle, only this time a very fast strewam of air is blowing the material through the channel rather than water and this is called, the gold drywasher.

A gold drywasher doesn’t cost very much, the only downside to many of these gold drywashers is a/ the noise they make and b/ the dust that they can create, having said that depending on which model you buy, the gold drywasher is also very effective in the collection of gold, with of could some machines being better than others, so research and due diligence you must carry out first to find out which gold drywasher is particularly suited to your on the ground conditions. You can also buy a dustless gold drywasher, the two can be seen side by side in the gold drywasher video below.

One of your main considerations to keep in mind anytime you are gold prospecting is to keep the weight down to a manageable size. There is nothing worse than carrying too much gold equipment out in the field, getting tired from walking long distances, carrying everything but the kitchen sink. You’ll only carry more than you need once to never do it again. Of course if your gold panning, gold prospecting location is close to your vehicle, then this advice does not matter quite so much, however, you will be surprised just how much everything weighs when you add it all together and by their very nature, many gold tools, gold equipment that are a prerequisite for finding gold out there are fairly burdensome to carry alone over any distance on rough terrain.

Before moving onto further pieces of possible gold equipment, gold tools, here are some basic tools which can be easily overlooked but when out in the field, you think to yourself, darn, I wish I had that with me now, for that half wouldn’t make my job so much easier!

What’ll you’ll need then regarding gold prospecting equipment / essentials, obviously this will depend greatly on the terrain that you are gold prospecting within, so just use your commonsense.

A small sharp axe is always a good idea for cutting away tree roots etc or dead timber in a river bed, to get to your ideal gold prospecting location. A sharp knife too can help and is small enough to be considered indispensable out in the wild. A long shovel is a good idea, more lightweight the better, this will save you bending over all the time and possibly hurting your back. A long handled shovel is also handy for digging out holes to get to your gold bearing gravel. A shorter spade is an option. A couple of trowels are always extremely handy, a short one for putting spoil into your gold pan or spiral gold wheel, an extending longer trowel for digging deeper or accessing harder to reach areas. A long metal pick is excellent for prying open crevices where gold may be hiding or to simply loosen material prior to digging. A GPS so you can make a note of any locations where gold has been found may also help you as well as of course a mobile phone or ‘GPS Spot’ device in case of emergencies. Also carry a small compass with you if trekking out into the middle of nowhere.

A plastic or metal gold pump is also excellent for drawing up material from deeper down or for use underwater. This works by suction and simply sucks up the dirt which is then contained in the tube for easy placement into your plastic bucket. These are especially useful to use within crevices where gold may be trapped. Rubber gloves will of course keep your hands dry, warm and somewhat protected, it goes without saying that warm clothes are a necessity as is enough food and water for your trip. A pair of gardening gloves are also a good idea when digging out banks etc where there may be sharp rocks etc. Some sort of insect repellant can be very useful in keeping midges off your skin, driving you to sheer exasperation and takes up an extraordinarily small amount of space as does a tube of antiseptic cream if you do cut yourself somehow.

A hooked painters scraper can also be used for crevicing very small cracks where gold may reside within. A strong screwdriver or two can also be used for prying open cracks in rocks. Two pairs of tweezers, one short the other long. A rock hounding rock hammer will be great for hitting open any bedrock etc, indispensable in my opinion. A gold sucker, small enough to fit in a backpack side pocket. For locating tiny flakes of gold, within gold bearing quartz for example a small magnifying glass, eyepiece can help you immensely. And then a gold classifier, to sort through your rubble which will fit inside your gold pan to save room.

Of course, every gold prospector will have his or her favorite tools and this is by no means an exhaustive list, read online and you’ll soon be able to pick up some useful tips and pieces of advice from other gold prospectors. Especially out in the wild, always use good commonsense, sensible strong boots with ankle protection, a headtorch, spare batteries, matches or a lighter, extra clothing and let someone know where you are approximately and what time you expect to be back again so if the worst does happen, someone, somewhere can raise the alarm.
